Strong readers become strong writers, so younger students read aloud every session and older ones read the text before they write about it. We mark drafts the way a teacher does: in the margin, with a reason.

How a session runs
Every student keeps one notebook with us. It holds their drafts, our marks and their rewrites, so progress is on the page rather than in a spreadsheet.
