Practice areas

Six areas of law, practised deeply. Each is led by a partner who has spent a career in it — and who will tell you plainly whether your matter is one we should take.

Business & contracts

We act as outside counsel to owner-led companies — setting up the business properly, drafting and negotiating the agreements that carry real risk, and stepping in early when a deal or a partnership starts to go wrong.

Typical matters

Company formation, shareholder and partnership agreements, commercial leases, supplier and customer contracts, buying or selling a business

Employment

Whether you run a team or work on one, employment problems move quickly and carry deadlines. We give straight advice on where you stand, negotiate settlements, and represent you before agencies and in court.

Typical matters

Employment contracts, handbooks and policies, wrongful termination, discrimination and harassment claims, severance negotiations, non-compete agreements

Real estate

From a first home to a portfolio of commercial units, we review every document before you sign it, work with lenders and title companies to keep closings on schedule, and resolve disputes when a property deal breaks down.

Typical matters

Purchases and sales, closings, title and boundary disputes, commercial leasing, landlord–tenant matters, zoning questions

Estate planning & probate

Good planning is a kindness to the people you leave behind. We draft clear wills and trusts that reflect your wishes, review them as your life changes, and guide families through probate and estate administration with patience.

Typical matters

Wills and living trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, probate and estate administration, trust disputes

Family law

Family matters are personal and rarely simple. We help you reach fair agreements through negotiation and mediation where we can, and represent you firmly in court where we must — always with your children and your future in view.

Typical matters

Divorce and separation, child custody and parenting plans, child and spousal support, prenuptial agreements, modifications

Civil litigation

Most disputes resolve before trial, and they resolve better when the other side knows you are ready for one. We assess your case candidly, pursue early settlement where it serves you, and try cases when it doesn’t.

Typical matters

Contract and business disputes, property disputes, professional negligence, debt recovery, appeals

Questions we hear first

If yours isn’t here, ask it on the phone. There is no charge for the first call.

What does a first consultation cost?

Your first thirty-minute conversation is free. If we can help, we follow up with a written plan and a fee estimate before any billable work begins.

How do you charge for your work?

Wherever we can, we agree a fixed or capped fee in advance. Litigation and open-ended matters are billed hourly, with a monthly statement and no surprises.

What should I bring to the first meeting?

Any letters, contracts, notices or court papers related to your matter, and a short timeline of what has happened. If you don’t have everything, come anyway.

Do you meet outside office hours?

Yes. Evening appointments and video calls are available by arrangement for clients who can’t get away during the working day.

Is what I tell you confidential?

Yes. Anything you share with us to get legal advice is confidential, even if you decide not to hire the firm.

Tell us what’s happening. We’ll tell you where you stand.

The first conversation is free, confidential, and carries no obligation. Most people leave it with a clearer picture than they arrived with.
