A patch is only good if you cannot find it afterwards. We cut back to sound drywall, tape, feather the compound wide, sand and prime, then paint the whole wall so the sheen matches. It takes longer than a dab of filler. It is also the last time you think about that hole.

- Furniture moved and floors covered before we open a tin
- Patches taped, feathered, sanded and primed
- Two coats with cut-in lines you could rule a pencil along
- Leftover paint labelled with the room and the color
