A download that says what it is before you click.

Application forms, spec sheets, terms, a catalogue as a spreadsheet. This section presents a file as a proper download: name, type, size and an icon, so a visitor knows what they are getting, alone or in a list of documents.

A download block for any file in your Media Library, with its name, type, size and an icon, alone or as a list of documents.

Page section
Placed on a page by Max or in Edit mode, styled by your branding.

Upload the files to your Media Library and pick one or several. The block reads the name, type and size from the file.

Downloads, described.

  1. Name, type, size

    Every download states its file name, format and size, which the accessibility standard asks for and which visitors appreciate on a phone.

  2. One or a list

    A single download button, or a list of documents with a heading, sorted as you like.

  3. Served from your site

    Files live in your Media Library, are versioned with your website, and are served from your own address.

  4. Replace in one place

    Replace the file in your Media Library and every block that offers it serves the new one.

How it will work.

  1. Upload the files Add them to your Media Library with clear names.
  2. Place the block Ask Max to add a download, or a documents list, to a page.
  3. Publish On your dev site now and on your domain when you publish.

Good to know

  • Downloads can be counted as events in Google Analytics when it is connected and consent allows.
  • Files served to visitors are the ones you uploaded. The platform does not alter documents.
  • Nothing server-executable can be uploaded to a website; the safety gate keeps that out.

Which file types can I offer?

Documents, spreadsheets, presentations, images, archives and the like. Executable files are refused by the safety gate that protects every website.

How is this different from the PDF Embed?

PDF Embed shows a PDF on the page. File Embed offers a file to download, of any allowed type, with its details.

Can I track downloads?

Yes, as an event in Google Analytics when that plugin is connected and the visitor has consented to analytics.
