Page section Planned

A document on the page, with a download beside it.

A price list, a brochure, a form to bring along, a set of terms. Some documents are already PDFs and should be read where they are. This section shows one on the page, with a download button, and never leaves a visitor with a blank box when their device cannot show it.

A PDF from your Media Library shown on the page with a download link, a page count and a fallback for every device.

Placed on a page by Max or in Edit mode, styled by your branding.

Upload the PDF to your Media Library and pick it. It is served from your website with a proper name and size.

  1. On the page

    The PDF is shown in a frame sized to the page, with the document's own controls for scrolling and zoom.

  2. Always a download

    A download button with the file name, its size and its page count sits above the frame, so the document is available even when the frame is not.

  3. A fallback that says so

    Where a device cannot show the PDF in place, the section says so and offers the download, instead of a blank box.

  4. Served from your site

    The file lives in your Media Library, is versioned with your website, and is served from your own address.

How it will work.

  1. Upload the PDF Add it to your Media Library with a clear name.
  2. Place it Ask Max to embed the PDF on a page and choose the frame height.
  3. Publish On your dev site now and on your domain when you publish.

Good to know

  • The frame has a name for screen readers and the download link states the format and size, as the accessibility standard asks.
  • Replacing the PDF in your Media Library replaces it on every page that embeds it.
  • A PDF is only as accessible as it was made. The section cannot fix a scanned image of a document; a page of text is better where you can.

Should I embed a PDF or make a page?

A page of text is better for search and for accessibility. Embed a PDF when the document exists as one and must stay exactly as it is.

Does it work on phones?

Most phones show the PDF in place. Where one cannot, the section says so and offers the download.

Is there a size limit?

The same limits as any file on your website. A brochure of a few megabytes is fine; a print-ready file is worth reducing first.
