A tour of the workshop, a thirty-second introduction, a demonstration. Videos you own can be played from your own website. This section shows them in a grid with covers and plays them in a player with captions, with no third-party service and nothing to consent to.

  1. Served from your website

    Videos live in your Media Library and are prepared in web-sized versions. Nothing loads from a video service, so there is no consent question and no other logo.

  2. An accessible player

    Play, pause, volume, captions and full screen as labelled buttons, keyboard-operable, with captions from a file you upload or Max drafts.

  3. Covers and a grid

    Each video shows its cover and title. A tap opens it in place or in a lightbox.

  4. Never autoplays with sound

    Videos play when asked. A muted background loop is available for a hero, and it stops for reduced motion.

How it will work.

  1. Upload the videos Add them to your Media Library. The platform prepares them and makes a cover you can change.
  2. Add captions Upload a captions file or let Max draft one for you to check.
  3. Place the gallery Ask Max for a video gallery on a page. On your dev site now, on your domain when you publish.

Good to know

  • Web-sized versions keep the page fast, and the original stays in your Media Library.
  • Captions are part of the accessibility standard every generated site meets. The player is built for them.
  • For long videos or large libraries, YouTube is still the better host, and the YouTube Gallery plugin covers that.

When should I use this instead of YouTube?

For short videos you own and want on your site without any third-party service or consent question. For long videos or a large library, YouTube hosting is more practical.

Are captions required?

They are part of the accessibility standard, so yes. Max can draft them for you to check.

Is there a size limit?

The same limits as any file on your website. Short videos are what this is for; the platform reduces them to web sizes.
