More than one thing to say at the top of the page.

Sometimes the top of the homepage has to carry three messages: the season, the service, the offer. This section is a hero slider that does it without the usual problems, with real controls, no motion for those who prefer none, and content that is readable when nothing moves.

A hero carousel of slides with an image, a headline and a button each, built to be accessible and to stop when asked.

Placed on a page by Max or in Edit mode, styled by your branding.

Edit the slides in edit mode or ask Max. Each slide is a headline, a line of text, a button and an image from your Media Library.

A carousel that behaves itself.

  1. Real controls

    Previous, next, a pause button and dots that are real buttons with names. The current slide is announced. It works with the keyboard and by swiping.

  2. Stops when asked

    Autoplay pauses on hover, on focus, and is off entirely for visitors who prefer reduced motion. It never moves while someone is reading.

  3. Text on top of images, readable

    Headlines are text over an image with an overlay tuned for contrast, never text baked into a picture.

  4. Editable in place

    Change a headline, swap an image or reorder slides in edit mode without asking Max.

How it will work.

  1. Ask Max "Replace the homepage hero with a slider: one slide for spring cleaning, one for gutters, one for the referral offer."
  2. Adjust in edit mode Click a slide to change its words, image or button. Drag to reorder.
  3. Publish On your dev site now and on your domain when you publish.

Good to know

  • The first slide is in the page as ordinary content, so the headline search engines and screen readers meet first is a real headline.
  • Images are sized for the slot and lazy-loaded after the first, so the slider does not slow the page.
  • A single hero is usually the better choice. The slider exists for the businesses that genuinely have three things to say.

Are sliders bad for conversion?

Often, when they auto-advance past the message. This one pauses on interaction, stops for reduced motion, and keeps the first slide as real page content, which removes most of the reasons they fail.

How many slides can I have?

Up to five. More than that is a sign the messages belong on separate pages.

Does it work without JavaScript?

Yes. Without script the slides stack as ordinary sections, so nothing is lost.
