Founded in 1987, second shop in 1994, the fire, the rebuild, the award. A timeline tells a story a paragraph cannot. This section shows dated milestones down the page, each with a title, a few lines and an optional photo, in your branding.

A vertical timeline of dated milestones with a title, a few lines and an optional image each, for a history, a process or a project.

Page section
Placed on a page by Max or in Edit mode, styled by your branding.

Edit the milestones in edit mode or ask Max. They can also live as content rows if the timeline is long or shared between pages.

A story with a spine.

  1. Dated or labelled

    Each milestone carries a year, a full date, or a label such as "Step 1", so the same section works for a history and for a how-we-work process.

  2. A list underneath

    The timeline is an ordered list with headings, so it reads in order for screen readers and prints as one.

  3. Alternating or single side

    Milestones alternate sides on a wide screen and line up on one side on a phone. Optional images sit beside their milestone.

  4. Editable in place

    Add, reorder or reword milestones in edit mode without asking Max.

How it will work.

  1. Ask Max "Add a timeline to the about page from our history: founded 1987, second shop 1994, new workshop 2016."
  2. Adjust in edit mode Click a milestone to change it, drag to reorder, add a photo.
  3. Publish On your dev site now and on your domain when you publish.

Good to know

  • Milestones appear as the visitor scrolls, gently, and all at once for reduced motion.
  • A long history can live as content rows so the about page shows the highlights and a history page shows all of it.
  • Works as well for a process, "How a job goes from quote to finish", as for a history.

Practical answers before you plan on it.

Read every answer
Can I use it for a process instead of a history?

Yes. Label the milestones Step 1, Step 2, and so on. The section does not require dates.

How many milestones can it hold?

As many as the story needs. Past a dozen, keeping them as content rows and showing highlights on one page and everything on another reads better.

Does it work without images?

Yes. Images are optional per milestone, and a text-only timeline is often the cleaner one.
