A line across the top of every page for the thing this week.

Closed for the holiday, free delivery this month, new location open. An announcement bar says it on every page without a popup and without rebuilding your header. This overlay adds one, styled by your branding, that a visitor can dismiss.

A slim bar above your header for an offer, a closure, a launch or a link, dismissable and scheduled.

Site-wide overlay
Applied as your pages are served, on every page, with no republish.

One line of text and an optional link. Set dates and it runs itself; leave them empty and it stays until you switch it off.

Small, sharp, and gone when it is done.

  1. Above the header, on every page

    The bar sits above your existing header and pushes the page down rather than covering anything, so the skip link and navigation stay exactly where they were.

  2. Dismissable, with a memory

    A close button hides it, and it stays hidden for that visitor for the number of days you choose. Change the message and it comes back.

  3. Scheduled

    Give it a start and an end and it appears and disappears on its own. Perfect for a holiday closure you set up in advance.

  4. Styled by your branding

    Your accent colour, your type, with the contrast checked so the text is readable on the colour it lands on.

How it will work.

  1. Write the line One sentence, an optional link and its label. Max can write it from what you tell it.
  2. Set the dates Optional start and end. Choose whether it can be dismissed and for how long that lasts.
  3. Switch it on It shows on your dev site and your live domain immediately.

Good to know

  • One bar at a time. It is for one message, and it is short by design, so long text wraps to two lines on a phone rather than being cut off.
  • It is announced to screen readers as a region named "Announcement", and the close button has a name.
  • An overlay applied as pages are served, it never edits your header.

Read every answer
Will it cover my navigation?

No. It sits above your header and pushes everything down by its own height, so nothing is hidden behind it.

Can I make it stick as the visitor scrolls?

Yes, or let it scroll away. A sticky bar is kept slim so it never takes a meaningful share of a phone screen.

Can I use it for a countdown?

It can show the end date in words, for example "ends Sunday". A live countdown is what the Countdown Timer plugin is for.
