Page section Planned

A promotional strip you can drop onto any page.

Sometimes one page needs a push: a service page with an offer, a menu page with the special. This section is a banner Max can place anywhere on a page, with a headline, a sentence and a button, styled by your branding.

Banner

Planned

A full-width promotional section with a headline, a line of text, a button and an optional image, for a page rather than the whole site.

Page section
Placed on a page by Max or in Edit mode, styled by your branding.

Ask Max to add a banner to a page and describe what it should say. Edit it later in edit mode like any other section.

A push where the page needs it.

  1. Placed, not global

    Unlike the Announcement Bar, a banner belongs to one page and sits where you put it: under the hero, above the footer, between two services.

  2. Headline, text, button, image

    The four things a promotion needs, and nothing it does not. The image is optional and sized to the layout.

  3. Editable in place

    Change the words, swap the image or point the button somewhere else in edit mode without asking Max.

  4. Styled by your branding

    Your palette and type, in a filled, outlined or image-backed style, with contrast checked.

How it will work.

  1. Ask Max "Add a banner under the services on the homepage offering 10% off first cleans." Max places and writes it.
  2. Adjust in edit mode Click the section to change the text, image or button.
  3. Publish It is on your dev site now and on your domain when you publish the page.

Good to know

  • A banner is a section in your page, so it is exported with your website and versioned like the rest of it.
  • Text stays text on top of an image, with an overlay tuned so it meets contrast requirements.
  • Use a banner for a page and the Announcement Bar for the whole site. They are built for different jobs.

How is this different from the Announcement Bar?

The Announcement Bar is one line on every page, above the header. A banner is a full section on one page, wherever you place it.

Can I schedule it?

A banner is part of the page, so it shows while it is on the page. For something that should appear and disappear by date, use the Announcement Bar or the Popup.

Can I have more than one?

Yes. Each is a separate section on a page, and a page can carry as many as make sense.
