Getting started

Max AI Builder builds websites by conversation. You describe your business the way you'd describe it to a person, and an assistant called Max writes the pages, the wording, the layout, and the design. There is nothing to install, no template to wrestle with, and no code to learn — though the code is there if you ever want it.

Your dashboard also shows doors for a Form and a Game. Today a form lives on one of your websites (see Forms); Games is in development and will switch on there when it launches.

How a chat becomes a website

The whole thing runs on one loop, and it's worth understanding because everything else in these guides is a variation of it.

1. You describe what you want. Either as your opening brief — "I run a family Italian restaurant in Portland; I need a homepage, a menu, and our hours" — or as a small change later on: "make the header photo taller."
2. The assistant reads your whole website. Before it writes a single line, it sees every page and every file your site currently contains. That's why you can say "the menu page" or "that green" without explaining what you mean.
3. It writes the files. Real pages, real HTML and CSS, real text — saved into your website's current draft.
4. The preview updates. The panel beside the conversation reloads so you can see what changed, immediately.
5. You react, and the loop repeats. Nothing is final. Every change is saved as a revision you can look back at, and nothing reaches the public until you decide it should.

A useful way to think about it: you are the person with the taste and the facts about your business, and the assistant is the one who can type very quickly.
