Deleting a website

Deleting a website removes it from your dashboard and takes it offline everywhere. It is permanent — there is no trash can to fish it back out of, and no support request that can undo it — so the confirmation asks you to type the website's name before the button will work.

Before you delete

Deleting is not the only way out, and the other two are reversible:

• You only want it off the internet. Disconnect the custom domain on the Domain tab. The website stays in your dashboard and stops answering on your own domain.
• Someone else should own it. Use Transfer ownership, in the same Danger Zone. The website — pages, files, history, domain and all — moves to another organization you own or administer, and that organization is billed for it from then on.
• You want a copy of the pages first. Open the website in the builder, switch on developer mode, and copy anything you want out of the Files panel. Once the website is deleted, you cannot get to any of it.

Deleting it

1. Open the website, then Settings.
2. Scroll to Danger Zone and choose Delete this website.
3. Read what the dialog lists — it counts your actual pages and uploads.
4. Type the website's name exactly as it is shown, then choose Delete this website.

Only the organization's owner sees this. Members and admins can build, publish and manage domains; giving up a website is the owner's call, because it is the owner's invoice.

What goes

Everything the website is made of:

• every page and file, including anything you wrote in developer mode
• every image and document you uploaded to it
• every saved version, and the file history behind each one
• every message your forms received
• your whole conversation with Max about that website

The website leaves your dashboard and goes offline the moment you confirm. Clearing out everything behind it runs in the background and takes a moment longer on a large website — there is nothing to wait for and nothing more to do.

What happens to your address

Your free address — your-site.maxaibuilder.com — stops answering straight away, and goes back into the pool a moment later. Anyone can claim it for a new website afterwards, including you, so if you are deleting a website only to rebuild it under the same name, delete it first and then create the replacement; the name will be waiting.

If you had connected your own domain, it is disconnected at the same time. The domain itself is still yours — it is registered with your registrar, not with us — so you are free to point it at a new website here, or anywhere else.

What happens to your bill

With legacy per-website billing, your subscription quantity follows your remaining websites (with a minimum of one). With organization plans, deleting a project does not lower the flat plan price or remove the organization's credits. Its published slot becomes available after the live deployment is withdrawn. Deleting your last website does not close your account or cancel your subscription; you can create another whenever you like. To stop being billed entirely, cancel the subscription on your organization's Billing page.

AI usage you have already run is billed as usual. Deleting the website does not cancel usage charges that have not been invoiced yet.
