Starting from a template

Every design in the template gallery is a complete website for a kind of business: a dental practice, a bakery, a roofing company, a yoga studio. When you start from one, you do not get the template as it is in the gallery. You get it made yours.

What happens when you choose one

1. Open a template in the gallery and choose Use this template. If you do not have an account yet, you create one first and land in the same place afterwards.
2. The New website dialog opens with the template shown at the top. Type your business name and continue.
3. Your website is created from that template with your details already on every page: the business name in the header, the page titles and the footer; the phone, email and address from your organization's company details, wherever the template showed its own.
4. The builder opens on your new website. Tell Max what you do and it rewrites the template's words for your business.

Nothing about the template's look changes in step 3. Colours, fonts, photos and layout are the template's until you or Max change them.

Which details are used

The dialog uses what your organization already knows about you: the phone number, email and address on Company details. A detail you have not filled in stays as the template wrote it, so a placeholder phone number can remain on the page until you add yours. Max knows which details are still the template's and asks about them in its first message.

Changing your mind

A template is a starting point, not a commitment. Ask Max to change any of it, switch a section in Edit mode, or delete the website and start from another template. Your organization's Free plan allowance counts websites, not attempts.
